Another Tar Heel Victory: It was a Tar Heel reunion after golfer Davis Love III ’86 won the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro last weekend and let Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford ’71 inspect the winner’s trophy up close (photo by Matt Brown/Wyndham Championship). Swofford was athletics director at UNC when Love played for the Tar Heels.
At age 51 years, 4 months and 10 days, Love became the third-oldest golfer to win a tournament on the PGA Tour. The win also gives a big boost to his career, putting him back in the Masters next year, among other rewards.
